Appointments

There are multiple ways to contact the practice:

  • Online: Complete an online consultation. This is usually the quickest way to contact us and allows us to assess your request and direct you to the most appropriate service.
  • By phone: Call us on 01392 255722.

Our phone lines can be very busy, so if you are able to use our online service, we recommend completing an online consultation rather than waiting on the telephone.

For a step-by-step guide, please see our how to contact the practice guide.

How To Book An Appointment

For most medical requests, we ask patients to contact your GP online as the first step. This helps us understand your needs and direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service as quickly as possible. It also helps us ensure that appointments are available for patients who need to be seen in person.

Submit an Online Consultation

For most medical requests, we ask patients to contact your GP online, as the first step. This allows our clinical team to understand your needs and make sure you receive the most appropriate care.

You can use online consultation for:

  • New medical problems
  • Ongoing health concerns
  • Medication queries
  • Sick notes
  • Advice about symptoms or treatment
  • Administrative requests

Online consultation is available Monday to Friday during our practice opening hours.

Once you submit your request, a member of our triage team will review it and decide on the most appropriate next step. Depending on your needs, this may include:

  • Self-care advice
  • A telephone consultation
  • A face-to-face consultation
  • A video consultation
  • A prescription
  • Referral to another service
  • An administrative response

This approach helps us make sure you are seen by the right clinician or directed to the most appropriate service, while ensuring appointments are available for those who need them most.

Calling the Practice

If you are unable to use online consultation, or your request is not suitable for an online consultation, you can contact the practice by telephone during our opening hours. Our reception team will ask a few questions to understand how we can best help you and they will direct you to the most appropriate clinician or service. Please be assured that our reception team are trained to handle your queries sensitively and confidentially.

If you no longer need your appointment or need to change the date or time, please let us know as soon as possible. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient.

Types of Appointments

Depending on your health needs, you may be offered a telephone, face-to-face or video appointment, or a home visit. Our clinical team will assess your request and arrange the most appropriate type of care for you.

Many health concerns can be safely assessed and managed by telephone. If the triage clinician feels that you need to be seen in person, they will arrange a face-to-face appointment following your online consultation or telephone assessment.

Please make sure we have your correct telephone number and keep your phone nearby after submitting your request, as the clinician may call you from an unfamiliar number.

Face-to-face appointments are available when an in-person assessment or examination is needed. Following your online consultation or telephone assessment, our triage team will arrange the most suitable appointment.

You may be invited to attend the practice for:

  • Long-term condition reviews
  • Cervical screening
  • Immunisations
  • Wound care
  • Blood tests
  • NHS health checks

Home visit appointments are available for patients who are housebound and live within our practice catchment area. They are intended for patients whose health or mobility means they are unable to attend the practice.

If you feel you need a home visit, please contact the practice and provide details about your condition and why you are unable to attend in person. The triage clinician will assess your needs and arrange a home visit if this is considered appropriate.

Home visits are usually carried out after midday. Depending on your needs, you may be visited by a Community Nurse or another appropriate healthcare professional, rather than a GP.

Please tell us if you need:

  • An interpreter
  • Hearing support
  • Easy-read information
  • Longer appointment adjustments
  • Any other accessibility support

If you no longer need your appointment or need to change the date or time, please let us know as soon as possible. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient.

You can cancel your appointment in either of the following ways:

  • By telephone: Call 01392 255722 and press option 1 to use our dedicated appointment cancellation line.
  • Using the NHS app: Open the NHS App, select the Health tab, then select “Cancel my GP appointment”.

If you need to change your appointment, please contact the practice so we can help you arrange a more suitable appointment.

Out Of Hours

If you need medical help outside our usual opening hours, there are several services available depending on your needs.

Enhanced Access appointments provide additional GP and healthcare appointments outside our usual practice opening hours. These appointments are available during evenings and at weekends and may be offered at another local NHS practice or healthcare setting.

If an enhanced access appointment is suitable for you, our practice team will let you know when arranging your appointment. The type of appointment available may include face-to-face, telephone or video consultations, depending on your needs.

If you need medical advice when the practice is closed, or you are unsure where to get help, NHS 111 can provide advice and direct you to the most appropriate NHS service. You can contact NHS 111 online or by calling 111. If necessary, NHS 111 can arrange an appointment or refer you to an appropriate service.
